The house took its present baroque form in the sixteenth century when Cardinal Tommaso Gallio commissioned the architect and painter Pellegrino Tibaldi to rebuild it, and later owners filled it with frescoes, antiques and one of the most admired private gardens on the lake. Terraces of clipped hedging and statuary descend to a waterfront loggia, with the mountains rising across the water.
