Thailand divides between the Andaman coast, Phuket and Krabi, and the Gulf islands like Koh Samui, and the two run on opposite rainy seasons, so the right months depend entirely on which coast you choose. Aim broadly for the cool, dry window from November to February, when the heat eases and the sea is at its calmest.
Thailand is really two coasts with two different skies. The Andaman side, Phuket, Krabi and the limestone bays around them, is at its best from roughly November to April, while the Gulf of Thailand and Koh Samui keep to a slightly different calendar and stay drier later into the year. High summer brings heat, humidity and the monsoon, so the cool season fills first and the best villas and beachfront resorts are reserved far ahead.
A legal marriage in Thailand is open to foreign couples but genuinely bureaucratic: it runs through a district office and usually needs a sworn affirmation of freedom to marry from your embassy in Bangkok, translated and certified. Many couples complete the paperwork at home and treat the Thai ceremony as symbolic, which a good local planner can arrange beautifully, and which keeps the day itself free of officialdom.
